Sustainability in Agriculture, Food Production and Food Technology in the Danube Region (Danube AgriFood Master - DAFM)

The DAFM joint master programme will give the students a possibility to improve their knowledge and grow their skill-set regarding the intercultural and social aspects, anthropic landscape and natural resources - related to sustainability in agriculture and the food industry in the Danube region.

Focus Areas

The Master Programme is divided into 9 Focus Areas of which 4 Focus Areas are compulsory:

  1. Sustainable rural and regional development and policy
  2. Food Safety and Consumer Science (compulsory - min. 20 ECTS)
  3. Biodiversity and sustainable use of natural resources
  4. Sustainable Agriculture (compulsory - min. 20 ECTS)
  5. Soil, water and climate (compulsory - min. 10 ECTS)
  6. Biotechnology
  7. Regional specialities
  8. Sustainable energy systems
  9. Intercultural Learning (compulsory - min. 10 ECTS)


This Master Programme is structured in 120 ECTS; to be obtained within 4 semesters, and also contains compulsory Summer/Winter schools (4 ECTS), Conference + Lecture (2 ECTS), Internship (4 ECTS)

Structure of the master´s programme

  • Compulsory courses: 60 ECTS credits
  • Elective courses: 20 ECTS credits
  • Free electives: 10 ECTS credits
  • Master’s thesis: 30 ECTS credits
