Lecture :: Prof. Dominik Vodnik, PhD

Pozivamo Vas na sljedeće predavanje koje će održati Prof. Dominik Vodnik, PhD, Biotehniška fakulteta, Univerza v Ljubljani, Slovenija:

“How plants cope with soil hypoxia”
Wednesday, 29 May 2019 :: 14:00 :: classroom VI/B

Among the adverse environmental factors commonly encountered by land plants, flooding is one of the most significant abiotic stresses. Flooding of the soil can have a tremendous impact on the growth and survival of plants, and thereby on agricultural as well as natural ecosystems. In the last decades considerable progress has been made in our understanding of the mechanisms that enable certain plant species and cultivars to withstand periods with excess soil water or even complete submergence.

Lecture will be focused on biochemical, physiological and morphological alterations which enables plants to cope with hypoxic stress.

The lecture is organized by the Science Center of Excellence for Biodiversity and Molecular Plant Breeding (SCE CroP-BioDiv) and International Relations Office.
