About us

Analytical laboratory of the Department of Soil Amelioration carries out physical and chemical soil analyses and chemical analyses of water and plant material for the purposes of teaching and scientific research in agriculture and environment. Laboratory uses state-of-the-art equipment to handle a wide range of analytical tasks and specializes in high-quality trace analysis in soil and sediment, water and biota. The modern laboratory uses automated instrumental techniques: the microwave sample preparation technique, UV/Vis spectrophotometry, single or multi-element flame atomic absorption analysis/emission spectrometry (AAS/AES) and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), examining solution ionic composition using the air-segmented continuous flow analysis (SFA), TOC and many more. To control quality of analytical data, the laboratory uses calibrated devices, applies standard procedures and validated methods and participates in international inter-calibration studies of soil (WEPAL-ISE) and plant (WEPAL-IPE) material.
