Predavanja :: Assist. Prof. Anders Huseth, PhD
Pozivamo Vas na sljedeća predavanja koja će održati Assist. Prof. Anders Huseth, PhD, North Carolina State University, SAD:
- “Understanding the value of a habitat patch: management of resistance evolution in unstable selection landscapes” :: utorak, 5. ožujka 2019. :: 10:00 sati :: dvorana I/1
Sažetak predavanja: Centered around emerging neonicotinoid and Bt resistance within polyphagous pests of cotton. We will link the spatiotemporal deployment of agricultural technology to the development of resistance in tobacco thrips (Frankliniella fusca). This talk will explore contemporary application of geospatial techniques to document evolving resistance issues in a major pest of cotton.
- “Impacts of area-wide technology deployment within an intensive vegetable production agroecosystem” :: četvrtak, 7. ožujka 2019. :: 14:00 sati :: velika vijećnica
Sažetak predavanja: This talk will be focused on potato beetle management and downstream contamination of groundwater with neonicotinoid insecticides. Lecture outcomes will identify unanticipated outcomes of area-wide deployment of agricultural technology on pests and the environment.
Dr. Anders Huseth is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist for field crops and sweet potatoes. The broad emphasis of his research program is to understand relevant interactions between nature, crops, and farmers by revealing synergies and conflicts between pest control, environmental, and socio-economic goals. Focused on a central theme of geography, his lab uses a landscape-level research approach that unifies fundamental concepts of arthropod life history strategies with landscape ecology to understand complex communities of pests and beneficial arthropods.
Assist.
