Pozivamo Vas na predavanje pod naslovom “Community ecology of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and the importance of their underground networks in terrestrial ecosystems” koje će održati Assist. Prof. Dr. Irena Maček, University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty, Slovenija. Predavanje je organizirano od strane Zavoda za ishranu bilja i Ureda za međunarodne odnose.

Lecture  abstract

Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi form symbiosis in roots of the vast majority of the terrestrial plants from more than 80% of the plant families. This group of fungi is involved in many ecosystem services, e.g. improved plant mineral nutrition, improved water relations in plants, improved resistance to biotic and abiotic stress, and soil stabilisation. On the basis of the current knowledge on biology and ecology of those beneficial and ubiquitous organisms, spatial, temporal and environmental factors impacting AM fungal communities and biodiversity patterns will be presented. Additionally, importance and possibilities for the application of AM fungi in agroecosystems in different areas in Slovenia and the wider Balkan Peninsula will be discussed.
