The Executive Committee of the Community of Practice for Bioeocnomy Education (ICA-CoP Bio-Edu) is organizing a Workshop: Lifelong learning for professionals in the Bioeconomy.

May 30 and 31, 2024. The goal is to engage with the corporate world to enhance the participation of life science universities and faculties in lifelong learning for professionals in the Bioeconomy.

The bioeconomy corporate world is evolving faster than ever. With the shift to the development of the bioeconomy, in particular the bio-based economy, new expertise is required. Job descriptions change, old roles become irrelevant, and new skills are needed. The professional workforce for the bioeconomy needs to develop new competences.  The lifelong learning must be embedded in the workplace.

Lifelong learning offers new opportunities for life science universities and faculties to meet this demand and to engage proactively with both large companies and with small to medium sized enterprises (SME).

You are invited to propose a case study of your university’s perspective and engagement!

ICA-CoP Bio-Edu is looking for examples of different models of delivery of lifelong learning – to evaluate the pros and cons of the different approaches: dedicated courses for professionals, professionals engaging in selected parts of university student degree programmes, to MOOCS and other online delivered courses.
