XI International Symposium on the Mediterranean Pig

We cordially invite you to the XI International Symposium on the Mediterranean Pig, which will be held at the Hotel Olympia SKY in Vodice, Croatia, from October 11-14, 2022.

For more than 30 years, the International Symposium on Mediterranean Pig has been a place for sharing experiences, research results and project ideas related to various aspects of breeding local pig breeds. Although the symposium is primarily focused on Mediterranean pigs and the traditional silvopastoral systems of Southern Europe, it is also open to all other breeds of pigs in Europe that are still linked to local areas and that, even if outnumbered, play a special role in certain production environments and in obtaining traditional quality products.

The aim of the symposium is to address the needs of developing and improving such production systems, making them more efficient while maintaining product quality, protecting the environment and promoting the economic and social development of the local communities from which they originate.

Croatia is hosting this event for the first time. The symposium is organized by the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb and the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences in Osijek under the patronages of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food and the European Federation of Animal Sciences (EAAP).
