Faculty of Agriculture joins GBIF as a biodiversity data publisher
University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture is one of the first institutions from Croatia that joined the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), an international organization providing infrastructure for biodiversity data.
Dr.sc. Filip Varga from the Department of Plant Biodiversity has published our faculty's first dataset, which includes 405 records of plant species containing pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA) in the Lozan area. This dataset is a result of the mapping of PA plant species in the area of chamomile cultivation conducted by our student Josipa Lovković in 2019 for her graduation thesis.

We hope this will encourage other colleagues to publish their own biodiversity datasets that result from their graduation or doctoral theses and project research.
If someone is interested in publishing their dataset in GBIF, feel free to contact dr. sc. Filip Varga, our GBIF coordinator.
