Another Holiday Season Gathering held at the Faculty of Agriculture

The International Relations Office (IRO) of the Faculty of Agriculture organised another holiday gathering and a full-day event for international students. The event, titled Holiday Season Gathering, took place at the Faculty of Agriculture on 12th December 2024, with a total of 15 new international students who enrolled at the Faculty in the winter semester of 2024/25. The event was attended by international students enrolled at the Faculty through the Erasmus+ SMS exchange programme for study, as well as students enrolled in Erasmus Mundus joint Master's programme - Danube AgriFood Master (DAFM) and the Master Study Programme in Environment, Agriculture and Resource Management (INTER-EnAgro).

The event combined education, fun, and cultural exchange through mutual presentations shared by the students and IRO staff. In this way, both students and staff got to know each other better and connected through fun, and sometimes somewhat bizarre, cultural differences. After the presentation on Croatian customs and facts, students participated in a fun quiz about Croatia, with the winners receiving valuable promotional prizes from the Faculty.

In addition to international students, for the first time, Croatian students enrolled in regular study programmes at the Faculty of Agriculture, who participate in extracurricular activity groups, also attended the event. Domestic students, together with the president of the extracurricular activities groups, Professor Sanja Radman, held four fun interactive workshops for the incoming students. A total of 9 Croatian students presented the work of four different extracurricular activity groups:

Entomological Group
The Wonderful World of Weeds

This approach facilitated better networking between domestic and international students, encouraged the exchange of ideas and experiences, and strengthened the move towards further internationalisation and the enhancement of intercultural cooperation at the Faculty of Agriculture.

After the workshops, international students continued their socialising over a joint lunch, where they had the opportunity to get to know each other better and exchange impressions. The socialising continued with a visit to Agroadvent, traditional Christmas fair of the Faculty of Agriculture, which further enriched their stay with content related to agriculture, local traditions, and the festive atmosphere.

The event concluded with an organised tour of Zagreb titled Zagreb's Winter Tales, arranged by Purgerica, known for her original and engaging tours. During the walk through Main Square and the Upper Town in their festive attire, students had the opportunity to learn about the historical landmarks, traditional customs, and stories related to Christmas time in Zagreb. This tour was the perfect ending to the day, giving participants the chance to better experience the culture and history of the host city.
