Department of Seed Science and Technology
Part of the Experiment station Maksimir which belongs to the Department of Seed Science and Technology covers the area of 2 ha used for teaching and scientific purposes. For students of the Faculty of Agriculture practical training, practical work and field trials for the professional, Bs and Ms Theses are organized. Most of the area is occupied by The Garden of Medicinal and Aromatic plants, with over 40 different species, such as sage, rosemary, basil, dalmatian pyrethrum, oregano, marigold, savory, mint, clary sage, etc. On the small part of the Experimental station traditional common bean landraces are grown with the aim of their conservation and assessment of their morphological, chemical and genetic diversity. Experiment stations also serves for the characterization and evaluation, and regeneration of the accessions maintained in the Collection of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of the Department of Seed Science and Technology, as well as for the investigations of biochemical, chemical and morphological diversity of medicinal and aromatic plants.
