Opis predmeta
This course introduces students to the richness and diversity of viticulture and winemaking, as an important economic sector in the world through the data on the state of the industry on a global level. The most important wine-growing countries will be presented (history, environmental conditions, surfaces and varieties, and technological specificities in the production of grapes and wine). Particular emphasis will be given on traditional and most famous regions of individual countries, and their typical wines, descriptive and sensory - tasting. During the lectures and exercises, students will be introduced to the wine legislation in different countries (especially EU regulations) and at the same time their wine quality categories and labelling of wines on the market will be presented.
Upon the completion of lectures, exercises, field classes and seminars students will be made familiar with the specifics of viticulture in certain parts of the world, with the world's most famous wines and special technology in their production. The module will contribute to better understanding and valorisation of production, and complements the knowledge gained to other modules in the study.

This work is related to detailed insight in viticulture and wine production in specific wine region with special emphasis given to environmental conditions, cultivars and technology used in that specific area.
